System File Icon Replacements Steps 1. Load Resedit from the Finder 2. To replace the boring folder with the file cabinet icon. a. open the finder file on your system disk. b. open the ICON # part of the Finder c. double click on the folder icon d. look at its ID #. Write this # down e. delete the folder icon f. paste the file cabinet icon in the same file g. choose the new icon and GET INFO h. change the new icons ID # to the ID # that the folder icon had (you wrote this # down) 3. To replace the Imagewriter icon a. open the desktop file on your system disk b. open the ICON # part of the desktop c. double click on the Imagewriter icon d. look at its ID #. Write this # down e. delete the Imagewriter icon f. paste the new Imagewriter icon in the same file g. choose the new icon and GET INFO h. change the new icons ID # to the ID # that the folder icon had (you wrote this # down) 4. To replace the generic system file icons with either if the remaining icons. a. open the desktop file on your system disk b. open the ICON # part of the desktop c. double click on the mac icon d. look at its ID #.
